We work on a broad range of problems involving fluid flow. While we are modeling-focused, we stay closely tied to experiments, including ones we design and carry out in our own lab. We welcome curious, motivated scientists who enjoy quantitative thinking, whether in building models to describe phenomena, or in building experiments and making sense of data. If this sounds like you and you’d like to work with us, read below to see how you can join!
Graduate students
We are always looking for curious and talented graduate students, and have open positions in Fall each year. We typically have both PhD and MS (thesis) openings. Write to us with a CV and transcripts, saying why you are interested in working with us. Also describe how your academic background prepares you for research in our group — I am particularly interested in knowing about your past projects and what you learned from working on them.
Aspiring graduate students must formally apply to a graduate program at UCR. Indicate your interest in working with me in your UCR application. While a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering is typical for students in the group, you can get a degree in a different program and still do your dissertation research with us.
Undergraduate students
Our lab typically hosts a few UCR undergraduate students during the academic year and over summer. No prior research experience is necessary, only a passion to learn, create, and discover! Why do you want to do research? Write to us!
Postdoctoral researchers
We occasionally have support for postdoctoral researchers. Please write to discuss potential opportunities if you are interested in joining us as a postdoc. Send a description of your research accomplishments and interests, along with a CV and contact information for two or three references.
